A free TradingView alternative for backtesting strategies
Deepwick is a browser-based trading research platform for charting, strategy scripting, backtesting, bar replay and alerts. Deepwick Script runs a subset of Pine Script. Every backtest fills orders at the next bar's open and charges costs on every fill. There is a Free plan and no card is needed.
It is not a full TradingView replacement. It covers fewer markets, has a smaller script library and does not place broker orders. If your work is testing strategies and checking exactly how each trade was filled, it is worth running next to TradingView.

Deep backtesting without a paid plan
“Deep backtesting” usually means testing a strategy on more history than the chart shows. On TradingView, Deep Backtesting is a separate mode for Premium and higher plans, with up to two million bars and one million trades; its results appear in the Strategy Report, not on the chart.
Deepwick takes a different approach. Saved backtests run on Deepwick's servers over up to 5,000 bars on paid plans, and the Free plan runs the same engine with a lower bar limit. Results come with the rules that produced them: orders fill at the next bar's open, stops and targets follow the path inside the bar, gaps fill at the open, and commission, slippage and half the live spread are charged on every fill. Click any trade to jump to it on the chart; the Inspector shows every variable of your script on that bar.
What Deepwick does not offer: millions of bars in one run, or lower-timeframe “magnified” fills.

Bar replay in the browser
- Walk the chart forward one bar at a time from a start point you choose.
- Play, pause, step and change speed (1×, 2×, 5×, 10×, 50×).
- Bookmark a moment, save it as an idea, or share it.
- Practise discretionary entries without seeing the future.
- Pro adds multi-timeframe replay and replay comparison.
What Deepwick does not support yet
- request.security(): it compiles but returns na, so anything built on another symbol or timeframe stays empty.
- label.new() and table.new() (lines and boxes work).
- Libraries (import), matrix.* and typed array.new<type>() constructors.
- strategy.risk.* and trailing stops in strategy.exit().
- Indices, most stocks and futures (indices come first on the roadmap).
- Placing real orders with a broker. Deepwick is a research tool and holds no funds.
- Editing scripts on a phone.
The full list is in the Deepwick Script reference and in Pine Script compatibility.
When TradingView is the better choice
- You trade stocks, futures or indices that Deepwick does not list yet.
- Your scripts depend on request.security(), labels, tables or libraries.
- You want to send real orders from the chart, or chart on your phone.
- You rely on a very large public script library every day.
- You need multi-million-bar history in one backtest.
FAQ
Is there a free TradingView alternative for backtesting?
Yes. Deepwick has a Free plan: you can chart, write or paste a strategy, and run backtests with next-bar fills and costs in the browser, with no card required.
Can I run my TradingView Pine Script in Deepwick?
Often, yes. Deepwick Script runs a subset of Pine Script, and unsupported lines are flagged with line and column. Scripts that depend on request.security(), labels, tables or libraries need changes.
Does Deepwick have bar replay for free?
Yes. Replay is available in the browser on the Free plan; multi-timeframe replay and replay comparison are paid features.
