DMI/ADX in one pane: ADX above the threshold means there is a trend worth following; +DI over −DI tells you its direction. Handy as a filter for other strategies.

RSI with regular divergences marked on the oscillator: price makes a lower low while RSI makes a higher low (bullish), or the opposite (bearish). Pivots are confirmed right bars later, so signals never repaint — they just arrive a few bars after the turn.
Chande Momentum Oscillator trend strategy: long when the CMO crosses above zero (momentum turns bullish), exit on the cross below zero. - CMO ranges from -100 to +100 and is more responsive than Stochastic. - Combine with a trend filter for confirmation. - 14-period is the canonical CMO lookback.
Coppock Curve momentum strategy: long when the Coppock Curve (WMA of two ROC sums) crosses above zero, exit on the cross below zero. - Default 14/11/10 reflects Edwin Coppock's original 1962 setting. - Combine with a higher-timeframe trend for confirmation. - Best on monthly/weekly charts for long-term swings.
Aroon Up/Down trend strategy: long when Aroon Up crosses above 70 and Aroon Down is below 30 (fresh bullish extreme), exit when the relationship reverses. - Both lines below 30 = consolidation; expect a breakout. - Combine with volume confirmation for the strongest setups. - 25-period is the canonical Aroon lookback.
Vortex Indicator trend strategy: long when +VI crosses above -VI (fresh uptrend), exit on the reverse cross. - +VI above 1.0 = strong bullish flow; below 1.0 = weak. - Pair with an ADX filter for stronger entries. - Combine with a higher-timeframe trend for confirmation.
ADX/DMI trend following: long when ADX is above the trend threshold AND +DI is above -DI, exit when trend strength or direction collapses. - ADX 25 = a trend worth riding; the higher the threshold, the stricter. - +DI -DI confirms bullish direction. - Combine with a stop-loss or ATR trailing exit.
Rate of Change momentum strategy: enter when the rate of change over Length bars crosses above Threshold (default 0), exit when it falls back below. - A higher threshold filters for stronger momentum bursts. - Combine with a trend filter (e.g. close 200 SMA) for swing trading. - 10-period ROC is the textbook momentum window.
CCI mean reversion long-only: enter when CCI drops below the oversold threshold (default -100), exit when it climbs above the overbought threshold (default +100). - Tighter thresholds (-150 / +150) catch only the most extreme swings. - Combine with an ADX < 20 filter to confirm ranging conditions. - 20-period CCI is the canonical setting; shorter reacts faster.
Williams %R mean reversion long-only: enter when %R drops below -80 (oversold), exit when it climbs above -20 (overbought). - Lower the entry threshold (e.g. -90) for fewer, more extreme entries. - 14 is the standard lookback; shorter lengths are more reactive. - Combine with a higher-timeframe trend to filter against the prevailing move.
Classic Stochastic %K/%D crossover long-only: enter when %K crosses above %D inside the oversold zone, exit when %K leaves the overbought zone. - 14/3/3 with 20/80 thresholds is the textbook setting. - Raise Length to filter noise; lower it for snappier reversals. - Pair with an RSI divergence or volume confirmation for cleaner entries.
Trend-following MACD crossover long-only: enter on a bullish MACD/signal cross, exit on the bearish cross. The histogram visualises momentum strength. - Raise the spread between Fast and Slow for fewer, larger swings. - Tighter Signal smoothing reacts faster but adds whipsaw in chop. - Combine with an ADX 25 filter to dodge range-bound whipsaws.
Classic RSI mean reversion long-only strategy. Buy when RSI drops into oversold territory, exit when it recovers to the midline. - Lower Oversold for fewer, higher-conviction signals; raise it for more trades. - Exit Level around 50 is the textbook mean; 55–60 holds trades longer. - Best in range-bound markets; combine with an ADX filter for trending ones.
Trend Quality Index (TQI) — |close − SMA| divided by the standard deviation of close. Higher = price is far from its own mean (trending / stretched); lower = price is hugging the mean (ranging). - Use 1.5 as the 'overextended' stall to fade; 0.5 as the 'ranging' stall to breakout-trade.
Market Phase Detector — bins the market into 3 regimes using ADX (trending vs ranging) and MACD histogram (bullish vs bearish): +1 = trending bullish, -1 = trending bearish, 0 = ranging. - Use to switch strategy: only trend-follow when |phase| = 1.
Trend Strength Oscillator — multiplies ADX (raw trend) by the normalised distance of RSI from 50 and the normalised distance of Stoch from 50. High = strong, directional move; low = ranging. - Use 0.3 as the threshold for 'trend active'.
Composite Buy/Sell Score — blends 5 weighted components: RSI position (25), MACD histogram sign (25), DMI bias (25), ADX trend strength (25), Stochastic position (25). Range -100 to +100. - Above +50 = strong buy bias; below -50 = strong sell bias. - Filter trades by requiring |score| 25.
Trend Score Composite — sums the directional sign of the last four close-vs-prev-close deltas and scales to ±100. +100 = four bars of strict higher closes; -100 = four bars of strict lower closes. - Filter chop by requiring |score| 50. - Built-in regime read at a glance.
Relative Momentum — rate-of-change of price minus rate-of-change of its SMA. Positive = price is accelerating faster than its own average (momentum building), negative = losing steam. - Lead reversal sign so turns at 0 are early warnings for trend changes.
Hurst Exponent — simplified log-ratio approximation of the rescaled-range statistic. Above 0.5 the series is trending (persistent), below 0.5 it's mean-reverting (anti-persistent), exactly 0.5 is a random walk. - Pair with an EMA crossover: only trade trend signals when Hurst 0.5. - Mean-reversion setups only when Hurst < 0.5.
Adaptive Stochastic RSI — feeds an adaptive-length RSI into a stochastic formula, then smooths with a 3-bar SMA. Combines Kaufman's adaptation with Connors' StochRSI. - 20/80 extremes work the same; the signals are cleaner.
Adaptive Stochastic — the %K lookback widens in chop (fewer signals) and tightens in trend (more signals), driven by the Efficiency Ratio. - Same 20/80 extremes, just better-timed.
Adaptive MACD — fast and slow EMA lengths scale with the Efficiency Ratio. Trends compress the windows for sharper crosses; chop widens them so the MACD doesn't whipsaw. - Histogram (h) flips are the signal; 0 line is the bias.
Adaptive RSI — Kaufman's Efficiency Ratio drives the RSI length. In choppy markets the RSI looks at 100 bars (almost noise); in trends it tightens to ~20 bars so it actually turns with price. - Same 30/70 extremes, but they fire more reliably than fixed-length RSI.
