When Bollinger Bands move inside the Keltner Channel, volatility is compressed — a squeeze. The histogram shows which way momentum is building; grey background marks the squeeze. A common read: wait for the squeeze to release and trade in the direction of the histogram.
Classic Supertrend (ATR bands that flip with the trend) with the flip points marked and alerts on both sides. - Green line under price = uptrend, red above = downtrend. - Raise the factor for fewer, longer trends; lower it for faster flips. - Works on any market; try 4h on majors and gold.
Williams VIX Fix panic-buy strategy: long when the VIX Fix formula (100×(highest-low)/highest) spikes above a percentile of its own recent highs. - Designed to mark capitulation spikes and mean-reversion entries. - Lower Percentile (e.g. 0.7) for more frequent signals. - Combine with an oversold RSI or volume spike for confirmation.
Range Filter trend strategy based on a smoothed range channel. Long when price breaks above the upper smoothed boundary; exit on the reverse break. - The smoothed boundaries are plotted on the chart for visual confirmation. - Combine with a higher-timeframe trend filter for cleaner entries. - Use the Length and Smooth Length to tune sensitivity.
TTM Squeeze breakout: when Bollinger Bands move inside the Keltner Channel (volatility compression), wait for the squeeze to release and price to break above the BB basis. - The histogram shows momentum direction; positive = bullish pressure building. - Combine with a higher-timeframe trend for stronger entries. - 20-period is the canonical TTM setting.
ATR-based Supertrend trend-following: long when the Supertrend flips bullish (green line under price), exit when it flips bearish. - 10/3 is the canonical setting; raise factor for fewer, longer trends. - Combine with an ADX 25 confirmation for strongest setups. - Plot the Supertrend line on the chart for visual confirmation.
Keltner Channel breakout: enter when price closes above the upper band (EMA + ATR multiple), exit when it returns to the basis. - Tighter Mult for faster entries; raise it for stronger breakouts only. - Combine with a volume spike filter for higher-conviction entries. - Plot the basis and upper band on the chart for visual confirmation.
Volatility squeeze breakout: when Bollinger Bands move inside the Keltner Channel (squeeze = vol compression), wait for the upper-band break to confirm direction. - Tighter bbMult keeps entries closer to the basis; raise kcMult for stricter squeeze detection. - The squeeze state is shown via a chart background. - Combine with a momentum filter for cleaner breakouts.
Bollinger Band mean reversion: long at the lower band, exit on the move back to the basis. The bands themselves are plotted for visual confirmation. - Lower Mult for tighter bands (more signals, smaller wins); raise it for stretchier extremes. - Pair with a higher-timeframe trend filter to avoid mean-reverting into a crash. - Best on range-bound assets and short timeframes.
Trend Quality Index (TQI) — |close − SMA| divided by the standard deviation of close. Higher = price is far from its own mean (trending / stretched); lower = price is hugging the mean (ranging). - Use 1.5 as the 'overextended' stall to fade; 0.5 as the 'ranging' stall to breakout-trade.
Volatility Squeeze Pro — Bollinger Bands inside Keltner Channel = squeeze (grey background). Histogram shows momentum direction; release of a squeeze in the direction of momentum = high-probability breakout. - Same logic as TTM Squeeze with cleaner histogram colouring.
Williams VIX Fix (WVF) — measures how far today's low is from the highest high over the lookback as a percentage. WVF 30 = potential bottom (analogous to the VIX spiking above 30). - Spike + low reading on RSI = high-probability reversal zone.
ATR Volatility Ratio — short ATR divided by long ATR. Above 1 = volatility expanding; below 1 = volatility contracting. Crosses of 1 mark regime shifts in the noise. - Below 0.7 for many bars = coiled spring; size up on the breakout.
Market Meanness Index (MMI) — ratio of the standard deviation of the price-vs-SMA distance to its mean absolute deviation. High MMI = trending (heavy tails), low MMI = mean-reverting (Gaussian). - Use with a regime filter to switch between trend-following and mean-reversion strategies.
Adaptive ATR — the ATR lookback adapts via the Efficiency Ratio. ATR tightens when price is moving and widens in chop, giving a volatility measure that matches the actual swing size. - Use as a dynamic stop multiplier (e.g. 2 × adaptive ATR).
Adaptive Bollinger Bands — the SMA length adapts via the Efficiency Ratio. Bands squeeze tighter in trends (catch the breakout) and widen in chop (avoid false breakouts). - Mean-reversion trade at the opposite band; trend trade on a close outside.
Recent high/low channel — the highest high and lowest low over a rolling window. Acts as a quick range filter for breakouts and mean-reversion. - A short lookback (5–10) catches local extremes; a long one (50+) gives a structural channel.
Waddah Attar Explosion combines MACD direction with Bollinger Band Width: green/red columns show MACD building in each direction, the orange line tracks volatility expansion. - Trade only when columns appear together with a rising orange line (real explosion). - Columns without expansion = low-conviction drift, skip. - Histogram colours flip with trend strength.
Two stacked Supertrends with different factors and lookbacks — the fast one for entries, the slow one for the regime filter. - Only trade in the direction of the slow Supertrend. - Fast Supertrend flips inside the slow Supertrend = high-probability pullback entries. - Four lines on the chart: fast up/down (green/red) and slow up/down (teal/orange).
Trend Intensity is the ratio of net move over len bars to the sum of all bar moves, expressed as a percentage. High values = clean directional trend; low values = noisy chops. - Reads above ~33 = trending, below ~15 = messy. - Use as a filter for breakout entries — only take them when intensity is rising.
Choppiness Index measures how trendless the market is on a 0-100 scale. Below 38.2 = directional; above 61.8 = choppy / ranging. - Use as a filter: trend systems work below 38.2, range systems work above 61.8. - Climbs back into the chop zone after a trend = take profits or tighten stops.
TTM Squeeze highlights when Bollinger Bands squeeze inside Keltner Channels (vol compression — grey background). The histogram then shows which way momentum is releasing. - Squeeze fires while bands are inside channels; trade the histogram direction once it releases. - Positive green bars = bullish momentum building, red = bearish. - Combine with a higher-timeframe trend filter for cleanest signals.
Classic Supertrend: ATR-based bands that flip direction with the trend — green line under price in an uptrend, red above in a downtrend. - Flip points are marked with triangles and alert on both sides. - Raise the factor for fewer, longer trends; lower it for faster flips. - Works on any market; a 3.0x factor on the daily is the standard starting point.
