Anchored VWAP Bands
Session VWAP with standard-deviation bands. Price above VWAP = buyers in control for the session; the outer bands often act as stretch levels for mean-reversion entries.

Session VWAP with standard-deviation bands. Price above VWAP = buyers in control for the session; the outer bands often act as stretch levels for mean-reversion entries.
Chaikin Money Flow trend strategy: long when CMF (sum of MFM×volume / sum of volume) crosses above the threshold, exit on the reverse cross. - CMF 0 = net buying pressure; < 0 = net distribution. - Combine with a price trend filter for confirmation. - 20-period is the canonical CMF lookback.
On-Balance Volume trend strategy: long when OBV has risen over the lookback window (accumulation phase), exit when OBV turns lower. - OBV rising on flat/down prices = stealth accumulation. - Combine with a price trend filter for cleaner entries. - 20-period is the canonical OBV trend window.
VWAP mean reversion long-only: enter when price drops below the session VWAP by the band percentage, exit when it recovers above VWAP. - Lower Band % for tighter, more frequent entries. - Best on intraday timeframes (1m–1h) where VWAP has clear meaning. - Combine with a higher-timeframe trend filter for swing setups.
Money Flow Index mean reversion long-only: enter when MFI drops below 20 (volume-weighted oversold), exit when it climbs above 80. - MFI combines price action with volume; signals are rarer than RSI but higher-quality. - 14-period is standard; longer lengths (21+) are steadier on daily charts. - Combine with an RSI divergence for stronger confirmations.
Market Sentiment Composite — combines short/long MA spread, a 50-bar trend bias, and volume confirmation into a single sentiment score. 0 = bullish, <0 = bearish; |score| 25 = high conviction. - Read as a single-number sentiment gauge that can replace 3 indicators.
Price Volume Confirmation — a 3-state composite: +1 when both trend and volume agree, -1 when both disagree, 0 when only one is bullish. Stack green bars for high-conviction longs; stack red for shorts. - Trend = close 20-Wilder-MA; volume = current 20-SMA.
Ease of Movement Smoothed — a smoothed version of the classic EMV, dividing the mid-price move by volume-normalised range. Smoothed with an SMA so zero-line crosses are clean signals. - Above 0 = price moving up on low effort (bullish). - Below 0 = price falling on low effort (bearish).
Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) is the running sum of volume signed by each bar's direction — the closest single-line approximation of net buy vs sell flow when only OHLCV is available. - Rising CVD = aggressive buyers winning the auction. - Falling CVD = aggressive sellers winning; divergences against price are a common reversal cue.
Volume Climax flags bars where volume is more than 2× the lookback SMA AND the bar's range exceeds 1.5× ATR — climax bars often mark exhaustion. - Use the diamond marker to spot exhaustion in real time, then wait for a follow-through bar in the opposite direction to confirm. - A climax bar inside an existing range is more meaningful than one at the start of a new trend.
Volume Filter shades every bar whose volume exceeds mult × SMA(volume, len) — a quick visual mask for 'this is a real participation bar'. - Trade only the green-shaded bars when you want a strict participation filter. - The threshold (mult) is the dial: lower = more bars pass, higher = only the loudest qualify.
PVI with Moving Average adds a smoothed baseline on top of the Positive Volume Index — the standard 'above MA = trend up' read for the volume axis. - PVI above its own MA = crowd participation supporting the move. - PVI below its own MA = crowd participation fading; treat rallies cautiously.
Volume Weighted RSI applies the RSI formula to close × volume instead of close — emphasises bars that moved the most dollar volume in the RSI calculation. - Same 30/70 thresholds as the classic RSI; the difference is which bars dominate the smoothing. - Pair with plain RSI for a 'price-vs-volume-weighted momentum' divergence.
Volume RSI is the classic RSI applied to volume instead of price — surfaces overbought / oversold conditions on participation rather than price. - VRSI 70 = participation overheated; the next thrust often fades. - VRSI < 30 = participation exhausted; rebounds on quiet tape tend to fail.
Chaikin Oscillator subtracts a 10-bar RMA of the A/D line from a 3-bar RMA — turns the cumulative A/D into a swing-style momentum oscillator. - Crosses above zero = accumulation accelerating. - Crosses below zero = distribution accelerating; divergences with price are the headline setups.
Money Flow is the cumulative sum of (close-position-in-range) × volume — a single-line distillation of buy vs sell pressure across the chart. - Use the slope rather than the absolute value: rising slope = money entering, falling slope = money leaving. - Pair with price for divergence reads.
VWAP StDev Bands wrap the live session VWAP with standard-deviation envelopes based on close − VWAP — the institutional 'is the move stretched' gauge. - A close beyond the upper rail = stretch; mean-reversion is the typical play. - A close beyond the lower rail = capitulation read; trend continuation setups still appear in strong regimes.
Volume Profile POC (Point of Control) is approximated as the volume-weighted average price — the price level that traded the most dollar volume over the lookback. - Acts like a magnet: price tends to revisit the POC during the next session. - For full per-bin profile rendering, use the dedicated Volume Profile tool; this line is the lightweight overlay.
Twiggs Money Flow is the smoothed A/D ratio — Colin Twiggs' answer to Chaikin MF with a 21-period default that emphasises the bigger picture. - Above zero = accumulation holding; below = distribution. - A break of the zero line often coincides with the larger trend change.
Klinger Volume Oscillator is the difference between fast and slow EMAs of volume × (high - low), with a signal line — designed to surface accumulation / distribution swings. - KVO crossing above the signal = bullish volume thrust. - KVO crossing below the signal = bearish volume thrust; divergences with price are the classic setups.
Volume Rate of Change (VROC) is the percent change in volume from len bars ago — the loudest, simplest 'is volume exploding' indicator. - Spike above +100% = climax / climax-candidate bar. - Sustained negative = participants are fading; expect low-volatility drift.
Volume Oscillator expresses the difference between short and long volume MAs as a percentage of the long MA — a clean volume momentum gauge. - Positive = short-term volume running hotter than the long-term baseline. - Negative = short-term volume cooling; watch for a return to zero or a crossover as the trigger.
Price Volume Trend (PVT) is the cumulative sum of volume × %change — similar to OBV but weights each bar's volume by the percent change in price. - Rising PVT = price moves being confirmed by ongoing participation. - Falling PVT while price rises = warning that the rally is on thin volume.
Positive Volume Index (PVI) updates only on up-volume days — emphasises the retail / crowd footprint when volume expands. - Pair with NVI: PVI up + NVI flat = healthy advance; PVI flat + NVI up = quiet accumulation. - The pair is the original 'volume confirms price' filter from the 1970s.
