New high / new low bar colouring — green when a bar makes a new high over the lookback, red when it makes a new low. Quickly shows which side is in control without cluttering the chart. - Useful as a momentum proxy: clusters of one colour reveal persistent trend days. - Combine with volume to spot climactic moves.
Pivot Trend Filter layers a daily standard pivot over a mid-period trend MA and tints the background when price is above PP and the MA slopes up — i.e., trend and structure agree. - Removes chop signals that fight the trend. - Use the green tint as a long bias, red tint as a short bias, neutral as no-trade.
Pivot Trend colours bars green when price is trapped between the most recent pivot low and pivot high (the active swing range) and red when it breaks out. - Useful for visualising when the market is range-bound vs breaking structure. - A break of the range on strong volume often leads to the next leg.
Aroon Oscillator is Aroon Up - Aroon Down, a single-line oscillator centred on zero. Positive = uptrends have had more recent highs; negative = downtrends have had more recent lows. - Crosses of zero are clean trend-shift signals. - Magnitudes above 50 (in either direction) = strong and recent extremes.
Market Trend Strength measures how often consecutive bars move the same direction over a window, as a percentage. Above 50 = persistence, below = chop. - Values above ~60 = strong trend persistence; below ~40 = the market keeps flipping on itself. - Use to filter mean-reversion vs trend-following strategies.
Vortex Difference is +VI minus -VI — a single-line oscillator that goes positive when up-moves dominate and negative when down-moves do. - Crosses of zero are the cleanest entries. - Magnitude scales with trend strength; combined with ADX it gives a regime + direction readout.
Gann HiLo Activator switches its value between yesterday's low (uptrend) and yesterday's high (downtrend) based on where the SMA of close sits. A clean trailing-stop line. - Long when the line is below price and the SMA is rising; short when above and falling. - Used by Gann followers as both entry trigger and trailing exit. - Pair with a longer-term trend filter for swing trades.
Waddah Attar Explosion combines MACD direction with Bollinger Band Width: green/red columns show MACD building in each direction, the orange line tracks volatility expansion. - Trade only when columns appear together with a rising orange line (real explosion). - Columns without expansion = low-conviction drift, skip. - Histogram colours flip with trend strength.
Two stacked Supertrends with different factors and lookbacks — the fast one for entries, the slow one for the regime filter. - Only trade in the direction of the slow Supertrend. - Fast Supertrend flips inside the slow Supertrend = high-probability pullback entries. - Four lines on the chart: fast up/down (green/red) and slow up/down (teal/orange).
Trend Intensity is the ratio of net move over len bars to the sum of all bar moves, expressed as a percentage. High values = clean directional trend; low values = noisy chops. - Reads above ~33 = trending, below ~15 = messy. - Use as a filter for breakout entries — only take them when intensity is rising.
HH/LL Counter counts how many bars have passed since the last confirmed higher high (positive) and lower low (negative). Trend continuation while both counters are climbing. - A higher-high streak + a deeper LL streak usually resolves with a strong breakout. - Symmetric positive/negative reads = trend exhaustion.
ZigZag connects confirmed swing highs and swing lows with a line so you can see the market's actual swings free of noise. - Lines redraw for len bars while a new pivot is forming, then settle. - Use to anchor Fibonacci retracements or to mark structural breakouts. - Not predictive on its own — purely a visualisation of confirmed swings.
Linear Regression R-Squared measures how well price fits a straight line on a 0-1 scale. Above 0.7 = price is trending cleanly; below 0.5 = noise dominates. - Use as a trend-strength filter for any regression-based signal. - Drops below 0.5 during chop and during the early bars of a new trend — be wary. - Sustained readings above 0.7 are when trend systems make their money.
Linear Regression Slope is the per-bar change of the regression line — it shows how fast the trend is moving, not just its level. - Above zero = trend accelerating upward, below zero = accelerating downward. - Flat near zero = trend exhaustion or reversal. - Divergences between slope and price often precede reversals.
Linear Regression curve fits a straight line to the last N closes — the cleanest trend line you can draw programmatically. - Price above the line = bullish bias, below = bearish bias. - Touches of the line often act as dynamic support/resistance. - Combine two regressions of different windows for a ribbon.
Elder Impulse System colours price bars green when both EMA(13) and MACD histogram are rising (bulls in control), red when both falling, blue when they disagree. - Stay long in green bars, short in red bars; blue bars are no-trade zones. - Avoids many false signals from a pure EMA cross or pure MACD cross.
QStick averages the difference between close and open over a window. Above zero = bullish candles dominating; below zero = bearish. - Crosses of zero flag short-term sentiment shifts. - Magnitude reflects how decisive recent candles have been.
Rainbow Oscillator compares the 2-EMA to the 10-EMA and expresses the difference as a percentage of the slow average. Acts as a fast trend ribbon gauge. - Crosses zero mark ribbon flips; positive = bullish stack, negative = bearish. - Useful as a regime filter for shorter-term entries.
Choppiness Index measures how trendless the market is on a 0-100 scale. Below 38.2 = directional; above 61.8 = choppy / ranging. - Use as a filter: trend systems work below 38.2, range systems work above 61.8. - Climbs back into the chop zone after a trend = take profits or tighten stops.
TTM Squeeze highlights when Bollinger Bands squeeze inside Keltner Channels (vol compression — grey background). The histogram then shows which way momentum is releasing. - Squeeze fires while bands are inside channels; trade the histogram direction once it releases. - Positive green bars = bullish momentum building, red = bearish. - Combine with a higher-timeframe trend filter for cleanest signals.
Aroon Up / Down — measures how many bars since the last N-bar high (Up) and low (Down). Values close to 100 mean a fresh extreme, close to 0 mean a stale one. - Up above 70 + Down below 30 = strong uptrend; the opposite = strong downtrend. - Both lines below 35 = range-bound; expect a breakout soon.
Vortex Indicator (+VI / -VI): two oscillators built from the sum of up-moves and down-moves over a window, normalised by the true range. - +VI crossing above -VI = fresh uptrend; the opposite = fresh downtrend. - Crossovers close to 1.0 are strongest; divergence with price flags weakness. - Pairs well with ADX — Vortex picks direction, ADX confirms strength.
ADX with +DI and -DI in one pane. ADX measures trend strength regardless of direction; +DI/-DI tell you which side is winning. - ADX above 25 = a trend worth following. - +DI over -DI = bulls in control, the opposite = bears. - Great filter for any breakout or mean-reversion system.
Parabolic SAR dots track the trend and accelerate as it matures; when price crosses the dots, the SAR flips to the other side and a reversal is signalled. - Long when dots are below price, short when above. - Lower Increment for tighter stops in fast markets; raise Max for stronger trends. - Pairs well with an ADX filter to avoid choppy reversals.
